The Designer: Frank Tell
The Venue: The Box at Lincoln Center, where composer Timo Andres played a song he'd written for the occasion while a moody video played on a four-sided screen above the sandbox-cum-runway in the center of the room.
The Crowd: Olivia Palermo and other fabulous fashionistas who came out to see what this notable newcomer, whose presentation was sponsored by the W Hotels Fashion Next, has up his sleeve for fall.
The Collection: Tell's Mad Max-meets-Planet of the Apes-inspired collection was notable for its barbarian-chic use of tattered fur, shredded lace, unraveling knits and deconstructed leather, all piled on cornrowed, fauxhawed models with wild and wonderful abandon.
The Standout Piece(s): Mutli-yarn sweaters whose mesh panels and crazy tufts of fringe made it look as though the wearer were molting; layered mohair tunics worn with cropped satin pants, lace ball skirts and granny-goes-wild fox tippets; and a fur collared crocodile motorcycle jacket.
