What inspired you for fall 2012?
Candela's Fall/Winter 2012 collection was inspired by the gold-rush era with an underlying Victorian theme which is a recurrent influence in Candela's esthetic.
How does this play out in terms of colors, materials and shapes?
The collection features a palette of deep, rich colors such as midnight blue, forest green and plum, while the over-layering and contrast of textures, such as lace, metallic beading and chunky cable knits paired with silk chiffon dresses, give the clothing a timeless elegance.
What music did you listen to while designing this collection?
I was mostly listening to the original soundtrack of the movie La Piel que Habito from Pedro Almodovar.
What do you look for when casting your show?
I look for natural beauty and character.
How do you stay energized/balanced in the weeks leading up to NYFW?
Caffeine!
What other show(s) are you looking forward to seeing this season?
I always want to see what Ralph Lauren does.
How do you plan to unwind after Fashion Week?
Eating—and last year we went to the beach to wind down. Now we are going to Vegas for market.
Gabriela Perezutti will present Candela's fall 2012 collection on Thursday, February 9th at The Box in Lincoln Center.
