What inspired you for fall 2012?
I was inspired by the late 1930s and early days of the Orient Express, which evokes a sense of glamour, allure and mystery.
How does this play out in terms of colors, materials and shapes?
I designed mostly sophisticated body hugging silhouettes in smoke, black, navy and cream with cayenne for bursts of bold color.
What music did you listen to while designing this collection?
I've been listening to Adele's Set Fire to the Rain on repeat—she really is an extraordinary talent, her album is one of my all-time favorites.
What do you look for when casting your show?
Models with diversified looks who are beautiful and confident.
How do you stay energized/balanced in the weeks leading up to NYFW?
I do my best to eat better with minimal snacking, but definitely slip up a time or two!
What other show(s) are you looking forward to seeing this season?
I always love supporting my designer friends Naeem Kahn, Tory Burch and Nicole Miller.
How do you plan to unwind after Fashion Week?
Michael and I are jetting off to Mexico for a relaxing 10 day vacation. I can't wait!
Dennis Basso will show his fall 2012 collection on Tuesday, February 14th at the Stage in Lincoln Center.
