Hey, fashion fans! As the NYFW shows have ended and there are countless other places covering the ongoing scene, I'm putting The Fashion Informer on hiatus unti the next round of shows in September. Have a wonderful summer and I'll see you in the fall.
After six wonderful years, I'm putting TFI's daily blog coverage on hiatus for the next few months to concentrate on other creative endeavors. Thanks for making the ride so much fun, and I'll see you back here in September for the next round of New York Fashion Week shows. In the meantime, you can follow my fashion world adventures on Twitter and Facebook.
As readers of this blog already know, I have a soft spot for illustration. Especially the whimsically chic illustrations of Lana Frankel, a former Vogue colleague who left her graphic design gig and relocated to the more relaxed environs of Colorado (after a brief stop in San Francisco) to focus on her art. In addition to her signature fashion illustrations, event invites and personalized portraits (human, pet and otherwise), Lana also has a line of happy-making holiday cards and gift tags, which, in true fashionista form, can be purchased off the rack or customized for a truly one-of-a-kind holiday statement. Joyeux Noel, indeed.
TFI is going on hiatus for a few weeks. I'll be back in time for New York Fashion Week with spring 2013 designer previews, Fashion Week coverage here and on Rue La La, and so much more. See you then—and enjoy the rest of your summer! (And how cute is this illustration by my pal, Lana Frankel? She rocks!)
In the spirit of summer getaways, during the month of July TFI will feature the stylish escapes—and travel must-haves—of a dozen-plus fashion insiders that I originally profiled for Rue La La. Hope you're having your own fun adventures!
In honor of the inspirational talk Ruben Toledo gave at FIT last week, we wanted to showcase all of the whimsical, wonderful and truly amazing illustrations that artist Lana Frankel has done for The Fashion Informer since the site launched in 2007.
To see more of Lana's work, which includes uber-chic greeting and holiday cards, both fashion-themed and traditional, visit her website. In addition to her prêt-à-porter holiday cards (which are also available at A.I. Friedman in New York), Lana does custom illustrated cards, invitations, announcements, and pet and family portraits. Just the thing for that special holiday gift.
The Fashion Informer's favorite illustrator, Lana Frankel, has just launched her own e-com site, where you can buy her clever cards and drawings for yourself. Lana does pre-made (ready-to-wear) cards, as well as one-of-a-kind (couture) illustrations for all occasions - birthdays, holidays, stylish soirees.
Stop by Lanaland to see her full collection or to have her design a one-of-a-kind card just for you. Congrats, Lana!
