The Designer: Silvio Liu
The Venue: Ivy Brown Gallery, a whitewashed fourth floor walkup in a not-quite-gone-to-seed building in the Meatpacking District that was the perfect backdrop for SL's edgy-elegant designs.
The Crowd: WWD and other early adopters, who turned out to see what designer Brian Wood and production partner Danny Liu had planned for their second outing (the label launched with Holiday/Resort 2010).
The Collection: The duo promised a collection that was "dominatrix inspired" but felt far more subtle and ladylike—full of sophisticated sheaths, elegant silk shirtwaists and strapless pouf-skirt party dresses—than in-your-face sexual. And we mean that in a good way.
Standout Piece(s): A white hammered satin shirtdress with sheer chiffon sleeves and back, a figure flattering one-shoulder color block dress, and a marine blue wool jersey cocktail frock with an ivory organza bib and draped front pockets.
